Parents: Do yourself a favour – prepare yourself ‘mentally’ for any upcoming holiday road trips and watch this movie! It’s in cinemas these June school holidays.
Of course, there are a few other things you can do too. You can enter our giveaway (scroll down) to win exclusive and super cute movie merch to take with you!
…And you can pack a few extra things from these categories to keep the kids entertained on the road:
Category 1: Surprise and delight – Keep the kid’s occupied with some stuff that they have never seen before. LEGO Mini Figures never fail to entertain our boys. We have been collecting them for ages and we love taking them on our trips. We’re up to the latest series – No.17. It’s super cute and a little bit wacky just like us! The boy’s take turns guessing which character is in each pack and spend ages in gameplay, telling stories about each Mini Figure. Some come with accessories like pug dogs, mohawks, hot dogs, babies bottles and even elf ears – as you can imagine this makes for some interesting storytelling! #hoursofentertainment!
Category 2: Slow burn, extended value – I always have activity sets from Tiger Tribe in the bag. They are designed to last for months and not just five minutes. Literally anything from this range will keep your little ones entertained. Tip: Water pen colouring and magnetic books are especially good for on the go.
Category 3: Create and use – Check out FunBox activities for fun and practical craft activities that your kids. Colour in a backpack, decorate your own drink bottle or cap or make your own iPad carry bag. These are easy to pack and your kids may actually use their creations on your trip.

PLOT
‘DIARY OF A WIMPY KID: THE LONG HAUL’, is about a family road trip to attend Meemaw’s 90th birthday party but it goes hilariously off course, thanks to Greg’s newest scheme to (finally!) become famous.
It’s quite a distance to Meemaw’s, but the parents have decided to drive there rather than fly so that they can spend some good old fashioned time together. Think sing-a-longs, travel games and the entire family taking a break from electronic devices for the duration of the trip. It’s every parent’s dream (in concept) and every kid’s nightmare…and the results are so, so funny!

VERDICT
The characters of this hilariously relatable comedy make this movie so fun to watch. There were quite a few scenes where my husband and I turned to look at each other and mouthed the words… “That’s YOU!”. I was so glad that we got to see this film altogether and the boys loved it as much as we did.
