After a visit to LEGOLand Florida earlier this year, I didn’t think that our LEGO life could get any better… and then we received an invitation to visit the BrickMan Experience and meet certified Brickman, Ryan McNaught!
The BrickMan Experience which has been touring Sydney, Melbourne is now Brisbane at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre in SouthBank which is just a wee bit closer than Orlando for us), so jumped at the chance to relive the holiday feeling and check it all out.
On our visit today, we got the opportunity to meet and speak with Ryan! It’s worth mentioning also that we’re HUGE fans of his. We post regularly about his works on our insta account and most recently have been wowed by his giant LEGO Christmas Tree in St Kilda Melbourne. We also came across his work on a recent tour of P&O’s Pacific Aria. He’s certified the LEGO activities on this ship and others within their fleet! LEGO + Cruising = AMAZE!
Ryan was fantastic with the kids and asked them all sorts of questions about their LEGO building creations and enquired about who was the best in the house at packing up the LEGO. I obviously won that prize! 😉 #mumlife. I spoke with him about our trip to LEGOLand and he told me that he has an exhibit in the waterpark there so now I have to go back to find it!
Visiting Australia’s Biggest LEGO Model Exhibition:
What we discovered was over 5 million bricks, 60 exhibits, and interactive zones for kids = fun!Our boys are aged 6 & 4 and got a lot from our 90 minute session (they run controlled sessions to control the crowds).
The experience was extremely interactive with plenty of opportunities for hands on play.
As an example: The boys got to produce their own masterpieces in the Master Builders Centre….
….as well as contribute a pieces of LEGO art which will be used to build a bigger artwork to be revealed on the BrickMans Facebook Page after the event.
We also got to see Australia’s largest LEGO Starwars model! #wow #theforceawakens!
You can tell that Ryan has kids of his own, because everything in the exhibit was designed with kids in mind. There was a ‘find and count the LEGO Santas guessing game’. We counted 31…are we right Ryan?
You can also contribute to an art sculpture unique to Brisbane by writing your name on a LEGO brick. It will be on display at future shows.
If you are based in Brisbane or get a chance to visit Ryan’s work in years to come, do it. It’s great to see someone doing something so fantastic and fun for a job. Our boys have now added Certified LEGO professional to the very top of their careers list!
