Go to any Langham Hotel, worldwide, and you can experience their famous Wedgewood High Tea. If you’ve been, you’ll know that this isn’t your average experience – it is a marriage of art, service and taste.
No detail is missed. Qualified tea sommeliers (yes, that’s really a profession!) are at hand ensuring that your tea is served at the optimum temperature and that the traditions of taste are upheld.
Since 2010, the Melbourne team have been serving up children’s high teas. These are often highly themed and I’ve been following from afar on Instagram (via their signature restaurant @melbasrestauraunt) for a while. Smurfs, Barbie, Frozen…are just a few examples of their well regarded Little Langham High Teas.
Designer High Teas for Teens was born because the first generation of Little Langham’s have grown up. The hotel has kept up with this loyal fan base, who are now tweens and teens. These tweens and teens are less about Elsa, and more about experiencing unique, chic, grown-up outings to share with their friends.
A few weeks ago I finally got the chance to stay at the Langham Melbourne for an annual Mumma’s weekend away. It was my first stay with them and up there in the WOW stakes.
No detail being missed, from our welcome snack to an exceptional dinner at Melba’s buffet (Tip: Ask for the M&M Naan for dessert!) with one of the most stunning hotel views going around, it didn’t disappoint.
A highlight of the stay was getting a sneak peak of the very gorgeous Designer Teen High Tea.
GOLD Donuts
XO Cookies
Chocolate mousse waffle cones
Rose Meringues with a chocolate base…!
I worked my way through every savory sensation and sweet treat.
I tried it all and die just thinking about it. There is so much attention detail in everything the Langham does and it was delish.
One element that is probably less blogged about, but worth acknowledging, is their ‘How to Afternoon Tea – Tea Etiquette” which is featured on the back of their high tea menu. It covers key topics to help avoid a social faux pas, such as…
“Great biscuit…can I dunk?”
“Pinkie finger raised while I drink my tea? Yes or No?”
“Is there a right or wrong way to stir my tea?”
All perfectly good questions and a great touch for educating little ladies. The food was wonderful and the service impeccable at the High Tea but also throughout the hotel.
The verdict:
This high tea is definitely recommended by me for teens these school holidays. Teens and tweens will love its cuteness (cute as in cool, not cute as in pink) and it’s perfectly pitched to their tastes.
Great getting dressed up for a fun morning or afternoon out with the besties.
Details:
I enjoyed the Designer Teen High Tea as a guest of the Langham Hotel Melbourne. High tea runs weekdays 25 March – 14 April and is priced well at $35 per person (up to 19 years of age) or $49 with a take home Langham Nail Polish.
