Charlie Brown Cafe & Family holiday entertainment with “The Peanuts Movie”

We have come across Charlie Brown Cafes in our travels (most recently in Singapore) but had a hard time explaining to the boys who Charlie Brown and Snoopy were.  We gave it a go but gave up after the crepes were finished.  Fast forward a few years to just a few weeks ago and we were invited to attend an early screening of “Snoopy and Charlie Brown: The Peanuts Movie!”  This turned out to be a great opportunity to pick up where our explanation left off and also to relive the travel memory.

“Snoopy and Charlie Brown: The Peanuts Movie” gave our boys (6 & 4) a great intro to the world of Charlie Brown and his friends. We were one of the first to catch their debut performance on the big screen where the characters who were originally a comic strip have had a gentle reboot to capture the hearts of a whole new generation.

The movie follows the story of Charlie Brown doing stuff that kids do and have done for generations.  It’s all about wholesome good times….like…flying a kite, working hard to do your best at school and trying to impress ‘that girl’.

It was nice to watch a movie that sparked the boys imaginations by following the adventures of a very cheeky but cute Snoopy; but also showed the realness of being a kid through the storytelling of Charlie Brown.   On the flipside, there were parts of the movie and words that i’m pretty sure our youngest didn’t understand (this is to be expected, he’s still very little) but we found these to be important to the genuineness of the film. It also meant that there was enough in the movie to keep the adults interested.

The verdit: We found this to be a good quality family flick that you can definitely take the kids to this school holidays.

Twentieth Century Fox Film’s “Snoopy and Charlie Brown: The Peanuts Movie is rated PG and due for release in Australian cinemas nationally this New Years Day – 1 January 2016.
