Ovation of the Seas is coming Australia!

Cruising has never looked so good!

It’s no secret that we have fallen in love with cruising. It only took one trip around the Caribbean on Royal Caribbean’s ‘Freedom of the Seas’ for #cruiselife to steal my heart.

Since our last cruise in July 2015, i’ve been on the look out for our next sea-bound adventure!

In the process i’ve been keeping up with some amazing advances from Royal Caribbean with respect to their new ‘Ovation of the Seas’ MEGA SHIP that is due to arrive in Australia December 2016.

Having experienced the #RoyalWow first hand, i’m pretty sure it won’t disappoint!

We are so excited for families to experience the ground-breaking ‘Ovation of the Seas’ by Royal Caribbean – the biggest, newest and most technologically advanced cruise ship to ever call Australia home!

Here’s just a few reason’s why:

  • Kids Club! It’s sensational. The kids won’t miss you and you won’t miss them. Ok you will, but you know what I mean.  On our cruise, kids club was more than just ‘day/night’ care it really was an adventure. The children went on supervised scavenger hunts throughout the ship, practiced a performance with Dreamworks characters that was then shared live on stage to more than 500 guests. When they finally came home (sorry back to the cabin) they would showcase a difference craft that they made. One day they came home with a hand painted pillowcase that they still use to this day.
  • Recreational areas:  The family that cruises together stays together. Families can experience so many new and fun activities on board. This ship features iFLY skydiving, The North Star Observation Capsule and an amazing hang out called SeaPlex – the largest indoor sports zone at Sea. The SeaPlex includes dodgem cars, a skating rink, a full sized basketball court, circus school and more – you will not be bored!
  • The Food: Gone are the days of cruise ships being known as floating RSL Clubs with their below par buffets.  With celebrity chefs joining the party, these days it’s five star quality all the way.  “Ovation of the Seas” guarantees you won’t eat the same thing twice (although you may want to!) and has food outlets matched your mood. On board you’ll find many specialty dining outlets including Jamie’s Italian and even a Food Truck!
  • Shore Excursions: One of the best things we did on our cruise was to actually stay on board the ship on shore excursion day.  When you are travelling with young children you sometimes just need to call it and take some time out. This actually turned out to be one of our best days on board.  Whilst these ships are so big it never feels crowded, there is a reality that there are people about. On our “on board” shore excursion day – there was only a handful of people doing the same thing as us. This actually gave us free reign over ALL the ship’s facilities. We had the kids water play area, the ice cream machine and the wait staff to OURSELVES – it was bliss.  On other days we did do the shore excursions and these very clearly  explained what ages they are suited to. Our tip is to get in early and book these as the popular excursions can sell out.
  • Get the drinks package, do the bingo, try everything: Cruising is such as special holiday and the best way to enjoy it really is to try everything.   See the shows you think that you’re too young for (they are world-class and will blow you away), try the bingo that you once thought was ‘boring’…you’ll be hooked, and buy the drinks package – it won’t go to waste once you see the Bionic Bartender on this cruise :)Oh and don’t forget to pack the Kwells! You probably won’t need them but sea-sickness is a reality in some cruising conditions and if you’re prepared you won’t have a problem.
