We took a trip to Melbourne earlier this week for the launch of some seriously good pirate fun at Harbour Town! We heard that there was going to be pirates about and didn’t want to miss any of the swashbuckling action! It was hard work taking the boys to a shopping mecca but someone had to do it. 😉
To kickoff the launch of Harbour Town’s Summer Pirate Playground we took a sail down the Yarra River on ‘The Enterprize’ with a few of our pirate friends! The ‘Enterprize’ is a replica of the ship that sailed from Van Diemen’s Land (Tasmania) in 1835 with Melbourne’s first white settlers.
This founding ship and has been recreated in precise and exact detail… it’s no wonder that it took six years to build! We enjoyed exploring every part of this tall-ship as we sailed with our friends and got into the pirate spirit! #apirateslifeforme
This sail marked the start of the next wave of FREE family fun at this shopping and entertainment precinct in Melbourne’s Docklands. The Summer Pirate Playground is FREE for families daily for the remainder of these school holidays and every weekend in February. Operating hours are 11AM and 2PM and the experience is broken down into the following zones:
Neverland Adventure
During our visit we met the characters from Peter Pan – Captain Hook, Tinkerbell and Peter himself. We played games with each of the characters on Treasure Island and even walked the plank!
Pirate Craft Village
It’s not every day that you get to make craft INSIDE a Pirate Ship with actual pirates! Parents: This Pirate Ship is also air-conditioned – get a cool drink or a coffee and bring the kids in!
On our visit we had the option to decorate a Pirate Hat or Tinker Bell Wings. You can guess which option my boys went with…
