A favourite holiday destination for our family is Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast. We live in Brisbane which is an hour away and the Sunshine Coast makes for an easy and relaxing holiday escape.
A few week’s ago we were invited to Australia Zoo to celebrate the release of 20th Century Fox’s “Ice Age Collision Course” in cinemas – fun movie you should see it! Australia Zoo in collaboration with the movie studio and Visit Sunshine Coast were putting on an epic event that was so fantastic that Richard Wilkins (Nine’s The Today Show) was called in to do a live television broadcast. The catch – we had to be at the zoo at 7am on a Monday morning.
I immediately saw the obvious opportunity and started looking at family accommodation nearby and discovered Monaco Apartments in Caloundra.
MONACO CALOUNDRA
Monaco Apartments offer self-contained luxury accommodation right in the heart of Caloundra and it’s just 50 metres from Bulcock Beach.
Bulcock Beach is one of the main reasons why we love Caloundra and why we have been coming back for so many years. It is the most gentle, lovely little beaches that you will find on the sunshine coast. Our children have spent many hours playing happily here.
We have stayed in many hotels in the area (you are welcome to email us about any of them) but none quite as family friendly as the Monaco. We will be back.
Here’s a few reasons why we loved Monaco Caloundra:
The view as you can see was amazing! Picturesque views from Moreton Bay Marine Park, over Bribie Island and Pumicestone Passage to the Glass House Mountains offer the perfect backdrop for relaxation. It wasn’t lost on the kids.
Monaco Caloundra is extremely well appointed. This is one of the cleanest, well thought-out family apartments we have stayed in.
There is so much to explore. We spent so much time by the ocean and the boys found a fisherman to harass. They were fascinated with his “catch of the day!”
Despite us visiting in the middle of winter – the pools are heated! We came prepared with wet suits – nothing was going to stop us from enjoying the facilities!
This resort as you can see – is VERY kid friendly.
You can enjoy carefully thought out reading nooks, a fully stocked games room (you don’t need to go to reception to ask for the table tennis equipment it’s just there waiting for you) and even towel animals upon arrival…this place is fully set up for families to enjoy and memories to be made.
Caloundra is also a great base for exploring the Sunshine Coast:
While you’re in town we recommend visiting…
- SEALIFE Aquarium Mooloolaba – You must check out their new ‘Finding Dory’ Exhibit
- Australia Zoo (Highlights from our recent visit below). I recommend Australia Zoo to anyone who is visiting our State – it truly is a unique experience for families.
It’s also one of the only places in Australia that you can pat a koala for free as part of your admission.
Tip: Be sure to visit KOALA WALK to experience this.
CREDITS
We stayed as media guests of Monaco Apartments in Caloundra. All views are our own and correct at the time or writing. Additionally, we attended Australia Zoo as media guests of 20th Century Fox AU. What a combination and what a weekend. We hope that all of our Jetsetting Families are able to visit the Sunshine Coast one day and do the same.
